Imperial Epineuse plum was originally found near Clairac in the Lot Valley, France c 1870. Taken to the USA in 1883 where it was introduced commercially in 1893.

Medium large, red, oval fruit. Greenish yellow flesh. Rich sweet flavour. Very good as a dessert plum ut also good for drying.

Vigorous tree. Fairly good cropping.
