History and description of Curltail

First recorded in England in 1872. So called because the king fruits have a fleshy stalk which curls round like a tail.

Medium sized fruit, flat-round, irregular, distinctly ribbed at the base. The numerous king fruits are round with a fleshy curved stalk. Bright green becoming clear yellow with an occasional slight red flush when fully ripe. The skin is smooth and slightly greasy. The flesh is white, tinged green, lacking flavour. A dual purpose apple. Cooks to a sweet puree.

A very vigorous tree. Inclined to be tip-bearing.
