History and description of Yellow Bellflower

Arose in Crosswicks, Burlington County, New Jersey, USA sometime before 1817. Widely grown in the USA as the leading commercial variety in the 19th Century before being replaced by Golden Delicious. Long, conical yellow fruit hangs like a bell on the tree. Firm, almost yellow flesh. Rich flavour. Cooks to a sweet, golden puree.
