History and description of Brownlees' Russet

Raised and introduced by William Brownlees, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, UK c1848. Medium sized, short-round-conical fruit. Grey-brown russet over green-yellow skin sometimes with a reddish brown flush. Firm, greenish white flesh. Intense sweet-sharp taste. Hardy and disease resistant. Attractive pink blossom.
