While many UK garden centres rely on imported trees, all the bare-root trees we supply are raised by us at our nursery near Maidstone in Kent. We graft the trees by hand, and then grow them on ourselves.
Most of our trees are summer-grafted, which means they are “born” in the summer and then grown on in the nursery for the next 15 months.
Unusually, we do not dig up our trees in the autumn and store them. Instead they remain growing in the nursery and we only dig them up a few days before they are sent to the customer, ensuring they are out of the ground for as short a time as possible.
Our nursery is regularly inspected by Defra, and all our trees are supplied with our Defra-approved UK “plant passport”.
We are also certified under the “Plant Healthy” scheme, which is a new biosecurity initiative led by Defra and the RHS.
