History and description of Francis

Francis is a less well known variety of peach originating from a seedling raised in Kent UK but one that deserves much more attention. It has medium to large fruit with white skin develops a dark red flush where it catches the sun. The flesh is pale cream coloured with a little red around the stone. It is soft and melting, sweet with good flavour. Ripens in late August. It is a reliable heavy cropper. The tree is quite vigorous and while not fully resistant shows some resistance to leaf curl. A good garden variety particularly for warmer southern parts of the UK.
