History and description of Reine Claude Violette

A old variety of unkown origin with the earliest records dating back to 1780.

Medium sized, round fruit with flat ends. Purple skin with a violet bloom studded with yellow dots. The green flesh is rather firmer than other gages. Free stone. Excellent rich, sweet gage flavour.

Upright, round-headed tree. Fairly good cropping.
