History and description of Angelina Burdett

Raised at Woolaston, Southampton, UK by H Dowling c 1843 and first described in 1853.

Medium sized, round-oval fruit. Blue-black skin with heavy blue bloom and reddish brown spots. Yellowish green, firm, juicy flesh. Good flavour. Clinging stone. Fruit hangs well on the tree and keeps well after picking. Can be used both as a dessert and culinary plum.

Vigorous hardy tree bearing regular good crops. Early flowering time makes it less suitable for areas prone to spring rosts.
