History and description of Curlew

Raised by Thomas Rivers, Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, UK in 1875 and first introduced in 1886.

Medium-large, blue-black, bloomy fruit. Bright orange flesh, with good flavour. Clinging stone. Suitable for cooking and eating.

Vigorous tree with long downy shoots. Blossom opens well before leaves.
