History and description of Laxton's Cropper

Raised by Laxton Bros at Bedford, UK in 1906 and introduced in 1931.

Medium large fruit. Bloomy blue-black skin. Firm, juicy yellow flesh with a fair flavour. Best used as a culinary plum. The fruit hangs on the tree well into October without deteriorating and will keep well in storage.

Moderate sized tree with a pendulous habit. Self-fertile with regular heavy crops sometimes overcropping.
