History and description of Montfort

Raised in about 1928 by A E Sadler of Woodford Green, Essex UK. Flat round slightly ribbed and five-crowned medium sized fruit. The skin is smooth with bright red flush and lines over a pale greenish yellow background. Quite an attractive apple. Pale cream coloured firm but rather chewy flesh. Refreshing sharp taste which mellows with keeping. A good keeper but a light cropper and prone to powdery mildew.
