History and description of Bellegarde

Bellegarde is a very old peach raised in France in 1732. In a sunny location the white skin is almost completely covered in a deep red flush and very dark almost purple lines as the fruit ripens. The flesh is a very pale yellow with some red colour around the stone. Soft juicy flesh with good flavour. Fairly good cropper. Late ripening and as such best grown in a very warm sheltered location or under glass to ensure full ripening. Like most peaches Bellegarde is susceptible to peach leaf curl.
