History and description of Laxton's Foremost

Raised in 1901by Laxton Bros, Bedford, UK from a cross betwen Marechal de Cour and Fertility. Introduced in 1939.

Medium to large conical fruit. Pale green skin ripening to yellow. Occasional faint pink flush or stripes. Variable amounts of fine russetting. Coarse textured, juicy, creamy yellow flesh. Sweet with a hint of acidity. Pleasant but unusual flavour.

Moderately vigorous, upright tree. Good reliable cropper.
